Tennis: Changing of the Guard

2024 was one of the most influential years in the sport’s history, marked by the emergence of a new generation of tennis stars rising to the top. With the rise of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, this was the first year in tennis since 2002 that Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal did not win one of the four major titles!

With Carlos Alcaraz’s success in winning Wimbledon and the French Open, and Jannik Sinner’s victories at the US and Australian Opens, a new era in tennis began, with these two players potentially becoming the big hitters in the sport for many years to come.

With Djokovic still playing at an incredible standard, he was beaten by Alcaraz in the 2024 Wimbledon final, showcasing why he is one of the greatest athletes of all time, with his unmatched longevity and desire to win. While some legends are still playing, 2024 marked the year we bid farewell to Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray, two of the sport’s biggest names from the 2000s and 2010s.
